After living in LA and unable to afford an apartment with my salary I have thought about moving to Portland. I’m a 27 year old male. I found several apartments in Portland in safe areas for very reasonable prices. The prices in Portland are half of what they are in LA. Another place I have thought about moving to is Pheonix,AZ. Which place is better?

What size should I expect, # of rooms ? whats a usually rent cost, and is living there really as good as it seems ? Safest Living Areas In Portland, Oregon?
I’m a High School student, and I’ve been planning on moving to Portland after High School for a few years now. I decided that looking into apartments and such would be a good idea.
But safety is my top priority, since I’ll be a single girl living all by myself. I’ve heard Pearl District would be the safest, thought most expensive. Does anyone have any areas they would recommend that I can look into?
